Family Photo Albums: Hands Down the Best Way to Preserve Your Memories

We’ve All Been There (Yes, Me too)

Raise your hand if you’ve had your family photos taken… and never printed them.

You’re not alone. I’ve done it too.

It’s one of those things that feels simple in theory—but somehow turns into a lingering task on the to-do list. Before you know it, a whole year has passed, and those beautiful images are still sitting on your computer.

I’m actually still needing to put last year’s photos into an album myself. Painful, right?

But here’s the truth: this is one of those small things your future self will care deeply about. So don’t be like me—get it done, and thank yourself later.

Why Digital Files Aren’t Enough

It’s so common—families invest time and energy into a session, only for their images to quietly live (and stay) on a hard drive. But hard drives store memories… they don’t celebrate them. The heart behind my business is to create images that reflect the joy of motherhood — and then pepper these images around your home. Images sitting on hard drives can’t do this for you, mama! And let’s be honest—technology isn’t foolproof. Hard drives crash. Files get lost. Your memories deserve more than a folder on your desktop.

Family Photo Albums Tell a Story

There is something so special about holding your memories in your hands. I’m a pen-and-paper kind of girl, and my kids? They’re the same way. They love flipping through our albums, laughing at tiny moments, pointing out how much they’ve grown. An album turns your photos into something living—something your family interacts with. Not just now, but years from now. Because one day, your children won’t want to scroll through your photos…
they’ll want to hold them.

Photo Album vs. Photo Book: What’s the Difference?

Not all printed products are created equal.

Albums are heirloom pieces. They’re designed to last for generations, with thick, durable pages (perfect for little hands) and beautiful cover options like linen, leather, or vegan leather.

Photo books, on the other hand, are more of a consumer-grade option. They’re often less expensive—but also less durable. Thinner pages, limited cover options, and a shorter lifespan.

My favorite company for family photo albums is Red Tree Albums, and the quality is unmatched. These albums are made to be held, loved, and passed down. I am so proud to offer these albums to my clients. Regardless of whether or not you choose an album or a photo book, having a tangible memory to hold on to is all that matters in the end.

The Process: Simple, Seamless, Done for You

When you book a session with me, creating an album doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

You have two easy options:

1. Design it yourself
Your online gallery includes a built-in album designer, making it incredibly simple to create something beautiful.

2. Let me design it for you
This is my favorite option for busy moms. I’ll thoughtfully select and arrange your images—telling your story in a way that feels natural, balanced, and timeless.

Because that’s what photographers do—we’re storytellers.

Once your album is ready, I personally review every spread to make sure it’s just right before sending it to production.

And within about four weeks, your album arrives at your doorstep.

Ready to be held, shared, & loved!
