Married Moments: Feeling Peace

I was on my way home from assisting/second shooting a wedding with the talented Billy Jones at the Marriot Beach Resort. It was late and the ride home had my eyes heavy and my stomach growling. I reached for another sip of coke to hold me over and concentrated on the road, blazing headlights coming at me. It had been a long and somewhat stressful week and I delighted in each sip of the fizzy brown beverage.

I was looking forward to coming home, mainly for one reason. Jeremy was home.  He had worked a 48 hour shift at the fire department and had just gotten off that morning. It felt like I had hardly seen him at all in the past week. Once I arrived home, he welcomed me from the hot and humid night air and helped me with my camera bag. Exhausted, it was so comforting to come home and have him there waiting for me. We talked about this and that for a while before deciding to turn in for the night.

It was about 11:30pm by the time we went to sleep. Feeling fatigued, I rolled onto my other side and faced Jeremy who had fallen asleep right away after saying goodnight. He never has a problem falling asleep at the drop of a hat, something I wish I could do!  I nestled into the bed to get comfortable and my hand fell across his and he gave it a gentle squeeze. I allowed my head to sink into the pillow, "It had to be you" was stuck in my head from the band at cocktail hour. He was finally home and we were together. As closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep, I was left with the feeling that everything was all right. The stresses of the previous week were behind me and I breathed in the moment feeling blessed to finally have my husband by my side.
