The day had arrived. Alex and Shelby were to be married! My husband and I know Alex and Shelby personally, we all attend the same church. These two are so sweet. Shelby is beautiful, with an infectious laugh. Alex adores her. Together, with friends and family, this couple put together one of the most beautiful DIY weddings I’ve ever seen. Hours of thought and preparation went into making this day one that they would never forget. The details were so well-executed that unless someone told me, I wouldn’t have ever guessed that this wedding wasn’t professionally decorated and catered. There were beautiful branches and flowers for the bride and her bridesmaids’ bouquets, handpicked by the pastor’s wife and members of the couple’s church. Little jars of hand-picked branches lined the rows of chairs. A handmade (by the pastor, no less!) wooden arch at the end of the aisle stood as the grand centerpiece for the couple’s ceremony. All around were special touches of greenery. The sanctuary of Community Baptist Church was transformed into a warm woodsy space in which friends and family could surround this sweet couple while they were joined in a covenant with God and with each other.
The lovely rustic deco carried on into the reception space. I was stunned yet again by both the beauty and the love that went into this day. The tables were decorated with elegant, fragrant branches of eucalyptus. The food (a taco bar!) was made with love by family members. (I heard that Shelby’s mom had rice going in rice cookers all day in preparation!) It was obvious that this couple is well-loved! Between the church members, family, and friends, I don’t think ever in my life have I witnessed such an outpouring of Christ-like love on this scale. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple.
A very special thank you to friends, family, and the members of Community Baptist Church.
