As much as I love shooting weddings, I thoroughly enjoy setting a slot of time for portraits with a family or couple. No interruptions, no time frame or schedule, just shoot! It can be a nice quiet, laid back experience (compared to weddings) and allows me to try new things, challenge myself and be just a tad more creative than I normally would on wedding day. Last Saturday, I shot this lovely family of 4 at White City Park in Fort Pierce.

It was about 1:00pm and the glorious sun was shining down on us! Oh how I love the sunshine and available light for portraits! I haven't always been that way though. In high school the light used to scare me as a new photographer. I was taught that overcast days were the best time to shoot. Granted, when I would shoot film, the shadows and highlights would really standout beautifully in an overcast sky. But now, I just crave to have light whenever I shoot!
